Environmental Risk & Authorisation
This unit facilitates environmental authorisations regarding the following national environmental legislation:
- National Environmental Management Act
- National Water Act
- Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act
- National Environmental Management Waste Act
- National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act
The point of departure is risk aversion, with the unit assisting the prospective applicant to assess the potential environmental risk related to a project. This step can have significant cost and time-saving implications.
Once the environmental risks and relevant environmental legislation are understood, a detailed costing can be done, and the environmental authorisation can commence.
A critical component of the current National Environmental Management Act Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations is rehabilitation and closure costs, which are especially relevant in the mining environment. EIAA services’ holistic and integrated approach to environmental management will provide a win-win scenario for all parties concerned.
